Now that we are done with basic editing of the photo, we want to resize it to a standard print size — like 8" x 10" — before we print it. The crop tool is great for this. Select the fifth tool down from the top on the toolbar on the very left. Alternatively, you can press the "c" key to select the crop tool. Near the top of the screen, under the menu bar, there is a toolbar where you can input a fixed crop size. So, if you want to print an 8" x 10" image, enter "10 in" in the width box and "8 in" in the height box.

With the crop tool selected, left-click and drag out a selection box until the box stops growing. Next, either drag the bounding box with the mouse or use the arrow keys — on your keyboard — until the bounding box surrounds the part of the image you want to keep. To maintain the aspect ratio and not skew your image, some of the image you may want to keep will have to be cropped away.
Now, either just hit enter or right-click and click "Crop."

Let's check the image size to make sure we cropped correctly and have the right-sized image. Go to the "Image" menu and slide down to "Image Size" and left-click it.

If you cropped your photo correctly, you should see 8" x 10" — or whatever size you entered — under "Document Size:." If the size is correct, click on "OK." Otherwise, use the History palette to go back and redo the crop.
